As the Secretary General of Desalination Branch of China Water Enterprises Confederation, I sincerely and warmly welcome all participants to Qingdao for the IWA Conference on Alternative Water Resources Management and Integrated Technologies for Sustainable Urban Water System (IWA-CDA Qingdao Conference 2013) in the cheerful season, which will be held in China June 25-28, 2013. It is a part ofQingdao International Conference 2013 on Desalination and Water Reuse, which jointly sponsored by Chinese governments, supported jointly by many global industry organizations.

Regarding the rapid urbanization of China, the successful experiences of research and practice on water resources in Qingdao target the integrated solution to the problem of urban water resources shortage and water ecological environment damage in China and other Asian countries. This conference will address all aspects of these important topics and provide an opportunity for attendees to come fully up to speed with the latest developments.

The timing and location for IWA-CDA Qingdao Conference 2013 have been selected to make it easy for those who are interested to attend the Qingdao International Conference 2013 on Desalination and Water Reuse at the same time. During the conference, leaders from central government and water industry will be invited to make high standard presentation on the development trends and the 12th 5-year national plan on utilization of desalination and alternative water resources. This, coupled with Qingdao for those who can attend both events, will make for an unforgettable professional and personal experience. About the Conference

Fresh water resources are becoming scarce in many countries, as a result of population growth, increasing pollution, poor water management practices, and climatic variations. Almost all conventional water resources have already been exploited in China, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel and many other country. In order to deal with severe water shortages, reduce environmental pollution and achieving a more sustainable form of development, alternative water resources have been considered. ¡°IWA Conference on Alternative Water Resources Management and Integrated Technologies for Sustainable Urban Water System¡± will provide a platform for conmunication and study. The conference aims at building an exchange platform for the most advanced technology of Alternative Water Resources Management and Integrated Technologies for Sustainable Urban Water System. Also it is a part of Qingdao International Conference 2013 on Desalination and Water Reuse, which organized by Desalination Branch of China Water Enterprises Confederation and other groups.

Qingdao International Conference 2013 on Desalination and Water Reuse, which had been held for 7 years annually. Every year, over 800 leaders, professionals and administrators of water sectors from more than 50 countries will be gathered in Qingdao. The Qingdao conference has been the largest and the most influential annual event on desalination & water reuse in Asia-Pacific region. With its abundant contents and diversity activities, the conference provides a platform for solving water resources crisis. Entrepreneurs and professionals will gather to share achievements and technologies, response to challenge and explore opportunities of desalination and water reuse industry together. Call for Abstracts

Abstract Submission:

Authors are requested to electronically submit a 2 page extended abstract in a standard format before 15 March 2013. All submissions should be original and not have been previously accepted for publication in a journal. Authors whose extended abstracts are selected will be invited to submit a full paper for an oral presentation or a poster presentation. Authors will be notified of acceptance by 31 March 2013.

Paper Selection and Publication:

Selected papers will be peer reviewed for publication in IWA Publishing¡¯s journals Water Science and Technology, Water Science and Technology: Water Supply, or Water Practice and Technology.  Specifications for the formatting of papers are available on the IWAP website athttp://www.iwaponline.com/wst/i2a.htm
